The deadline for filing the Annual Statement of Brazilian Capital Abroad report (CBE) expires on April 5th, 2024.
As stated by Resolution No. 279/2022 of the Brazilian Central Bank (BCB), the annual CBE report is mandatory for individuals and legal entities resident or headquartered in Brazil that, as of December 31th, 2023, owned assets abroad (such as stocks, bonds and securities, deposits, real estate, among others) in an amount equal to or greater than US$1,000,000.00 (one million of American dollars) or its equivalent in another currency.
Those whose assets abroad do not reach the amount of US$1,000,000.00 (one million of American dollars) on December 31th, 2023, are not required to file this report.
We emphasize that failure to present the CBE report, as well as its delivery after the deadline or with misinformation, may result in fines imposed by the BCB, which may reach up to BRL250,000.00 (two hundred and fifty thousand reais) and can also be raised in 50% (fifty per cent) in some cases.
